Lady on Elephant Statuette

With twenty-five years of experience sculpting, this artist creates a whimsical series of statuettes including this Lady on Elephant Statuette. She also makes Adam and Eve, Madam and Eve, Adam and Steve and Eve with African animals, all complete with cheeky tushies.  

Using a secret clay recipe, she forms each statuette by hand from her home studio in Cape Town, South Africa.  Every piece is three weeks in the making; the process includes molding, drying, glazing and two rounds of firing. The statuettes are mounted on black granite from Zimbabwe – offcuts from a nearby custom kitchen countertop shop.
